Rideshare is the innovative free web service that launched in 2001 to help community members find and share rides, reducing single-passenger car travel and its harmful side effects. In 2015, with support from Columbia Basin Trust, the site was redesigned to allow communities outside the traditional service area of the West Kootenays to share rides and information more easily.

The site now allows municipalities, regions, and organizations like businesses and festivals to create their own communities of ridesharers that can also connect to the broader world of users on the network. A person looking for a ride from Cranbrook to Nelson can now easily find a ride with a person travelling from Fernie to Vancouver.

The site is free for users, and we offer subscription and sponsorship options for businesses and governments to help maintain and improve the site’s functionality. Our goal for 2018 is to launch a mobile app that will allow users to¬†receive notifications and more easily find rides instantly.
